SEA PTA Board of Directors

Board Responsibilities

President

  • Preside at all meetings of the association; governing the overall business and process of the PTA, but are not required to attend workgroup meetings for event planning unless a member of the workgroup
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the PTA
  • Be an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee
  • Coordinate the work of the officers and committees

Vice President

  • Act as an aide to the President
  • Perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability of that officer to serve
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the PTA

Secretary

  • Record the minutes of all meetings of the PTA
  • Have a current copy of the bylaws
  • Maintain and up-to-date membership list
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Treasurer

  • Have custody of all the funds of the PTA
  • Keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures
  • Make disbursements as authorized by the President, Executive Board, or PTA in accordance with the budget adopted by the PTA
  • Present a financial statement at every meeting of the PTA and at other times when requested by the Executive Board
  • Make a full report at the meeting at which new officers officially assume their duties (usually the annual meeting)
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of such books of account and records as conform to the requirements of the Bylaws
  • Have the accounts examined annually or upon change of officers by an auditor or an auditing committee of not fewer than 3 members, who, satisfied that the treasurer’s annual report is correct, shall sign a statement of the fact at the end of the report
  • Submit a full report and all books annually for an audit by an auditing committee selected by the Executive Board at least 2 weeks before the meeting at which new officers assume duties
